My client, Maya, came to me with a clear vision: she wanted a bold and powerful makeup look for an evening fashion gala — something that stood out yet complemented her natural features and elegant black outfit. She specifically requested a statement eye look, something sultry and intense that would photograph beautifully under event lighting.

The Concept

We decided to go for a classic smoky eye but with a bold twist — layering in depth, drama, and a touch of shimmer to elevate the look beyond the traditional. Paired with a flawless matte base and a nude lip, the focus would stay entirely on the eyes, making them the hero of the entire look.

Step-by-Step Execution

Skin Prep: I started with a deeply hydrating primer followed by a lightweight, full-coverage foundation to create a velvety base. I contoured softly to define her cheekbones and jawline, keeping the skin looking natural but sculpted.

Eyes: For the bold smoky effect, I used deep charcoal and black matte shades blended with warm brown transitions. I added a hint of silver shimmer in the center of the lid for dimension, and intensified the lash line with gel eyeliner.

Brows & Lips: Brows were filled in with a soft, feathered technique to frame the eyes without stealing attention. For the lips, I used a soft beige nude matte lipstick that balanced.
